
Suporntum Mongkolsawadi
Dr Suporntum Mongkolsawadi, a recipient of the Paul Harris Award from Rotary International, has devoted more than 30 years to the field of working for equality and uplifting the quality of life for persons with disabilities.
He is living with a physical disability and is recognized as an advocate for people with disabilities in Thailand.
Suporntum was selected to represent Thailand at the 1988 Seoul Paralympics and the 1992 Barcelona Paralympics, won several medals and was recognized as an ‘outstanding athlete’ in the field of Sports.
Suporntum was promoted to the position of Head of the Computer Department and Principal of the Redemptorist Vocational School for People with Disabilities.
In 1999 Father Ray Brennan C.Ss.R. established the Redemptorist Foundation for People with Disabilities, consolidating all work managed by the Redemptorist on disability issues and appointed Suporntum as General Secretary.
Recognized not only for his outstanding advocacy roles and his position in Thai society, but also for his working experience as being an advisor/committee member on various boards, such as the Advisory Board on Disabilities to His Excellency the Prime Minister of Thailand, Sub-committee on Employment Promotion of Social Development & Human Security Ministry, Advisor to Disabled Persons Council of Thailand, and Advisor to Sports Association for the Disabled of Thailand.
